Hankook Tire, S. Korea's largest tire manufacturer, has come under fire for banning vehicles equipped with non-Hankook tires from entering its plants.
The tire maker is set to put in place the ‘Hankook Tire only’ policy in its plants in Daejeon and Geumsan, South Chungcheong Provinc.
Hankook Tire employees, as well as those of the tire maker's business partners, will be subject to the new rule. Under the policy, vehicles with non-Hankook tires should be parked at the parking lots outside the plants.
That’s why the tire maker is being criticized for bullying its contractors. The company explained that the policy is aimed at boosting employee loyalty to the company. However, many say such a discriminatory, dichotomous policy is nothing but anachronistic.
