On July 5, Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn took a tour of the group’s solar power unit Hanwha Q CELLS’ plant in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do Province, S. Korea.

CEO Nam Seong-woo of Hanwha Q CELLS presented Chairman Kim with a plaque equipped with the first solar cell produced at the Jincheon plant. In return, Chairman Kim delivered a small module with his cheering message for Hanwha Q CELLS’ employees printed.
Chairman Kim said: “We built this plant in S. Korea, dropping our initial plan to increase our overseas production. That's because we felt we ought to contribute to job creation and the strategic promotion of the solar power industry. To that end, we invested 600 billion won in Chungcheong Province and created nearly 1,300 jobs.”

Hanwha Q CELLS’ Jincheon plant, located on an 180,000-square-meter site, has a solar cell production capacity of 1.4GW. The combined solar cell production of Hanwha Q CELLS’ plants, located in S. Korea, Malaysia and China, reaches 5.2 GW.

Hanwha Q CELLS is already operating a 1.5GW solar module production facility, located on a 22,000-square-meter site, in Eumseong, Chungbuk.

Hanwha Group has thus far ploughed approximately 600 billion won into the Jincheon and Eumseong plants and created roughly 1,300 new jobs.
